FIG.01: The build sequencesheet 1/5

Where the SEO layer sits in the order

Five stages, and at each stage it says what goes in and what comes out. The order is the whole message: stage 02 fixes the URL tree, and everything after it builds on that.

engagement/wordpressfive stages · the order is the point
  1. 01Intake and analysis in: current site, audience, goal out: keywords and a page list
  2. 02Structure and engineering in: page list out: URL tree, speed, security SEO SITS HERE, NOT AFTERWARDS
  3. 03Build and content in: URL tree out: filled pages with a heading structure
  4. 04Delivery and handover in: tested site out: live site plus an explanation of the admin
  5. 05Ongoing support in: real visitors and real figures out: updates and new landing pages

Why the order is drawn here. Most of the projects we take over were built the other way round: first a handsome design, then copy poured in, and only after going live the question of whether Google can do anything with it. By then the URL structure is fixed and every correction is a move with redirects. A diagram of our own method, not a client file.

DOC.01

A WordPress specialist who looks further than the design

The WordPress work we do. Who does it, how we build, the four kinds of engagement and what a website costs, with the regional pages underneath.

We build WordPress websites that not only look good but are also technically sound. Every website is set up bespoke, with a structure that matches the keywords and the audience of the client. We do not work with a standard template that gets pasted full of copy and images afterwards.

A WordPress site from us is meant to grow with you. That means a set-up in which pages, categories and internal links follow on from each other logically, so both visitors and search engines quickly find what they are looking for. This approach connects to the broader software offering we have, where website, findability and automation truly come together.

Beside the design we look at the technical base: hosting choices, security updates and a set-up suitable for further expansion. That keeps the website stable and manageable in the longer run for whoever works in the CMS themselves, without small changes immediately calling for a developer.

DOC.02

How a WordPress engagement runs at TheSEO

Every engagement starts with a conversation about the current situation and the goal of the website. On that basis we decide which structure, functionality and content are needed.

  • Intake and analysis: the current site, audience and goals are mapped out.
  • Structure and engineering: the set-up of pages, speed and security are put in place before any content goes on.
  • Build and content: pages are filled step by step, with attention to readability and findability.
  • Delivery and handover: the website is tested and handed over, including an explanation of the admin.
  • Ongoing support: after delivery we stay available for updates, maintenance and any extensions.

This method applies to entirely new websites, but also to existing WordPress environments that need a thorough overhaul. Throughout the engagement we keep checking back with the client, so choices about structure and content stay recognisable and match the daily practice of the organisation.

DOC.03

What a website really needs today

A website has long stopped being a digital business card. It is the base underneath your findability, your campaigns, your content and the enquiries that come out of them. A site that looks tidy but is weakly built costs you more in the end than it returns.

A good website has to do several things at once today. It has to load quickly, be clear to visitors, be findable in Google and, more and more often, be readable for AI systems. It also has to be scalable: ready to grow with new pages, services or content, without you having to have the whole thing rebuilt in two years.

Loading quickly is the part owners most often ask about, and it is rarely one culprit: hosting, scripts, a cookie banner, a translation plugin and oversized images each take their slice. The seven steps we work through, including what we changed on our own site, are in why do I score low on PageSpeed. Being clear to visitors is measurable too, and for a WordPress site you can see it yourself with our heatmap and scrollmap plugin, which shows where people stop scrolling and where they click instead.

DOC.04

Who TheSEO builds WordPress websites for

This engagement is meant for owners and companies who want a website that genuinely works: for search engines, for adverts and for visitors who need to be able to enquire or order. Think of a small business ready for a more professional look, an organisation that finally wants to be found properly, or a company that wants the website to grow with a wider marketing strategy.

Would you rather work with your own people on the marketing side? Then look at our online marketing vacancies for extra thinking power beside a strong website. Those roles are based in the Netherlands and Dutch is required; the page says so plainly. And because a website never stands on its own, it is sensible to look at the online reputation of your business as well. A good site and a strong reputation strengthen each other.

DOC.05

Four kinds of engagement

Not every business needs the same website. So we work with four kinds of engagement.

  • Affordable websites: quick, tidy and sensibly set up, without needless complexity.
  • Growth websites: for businesses that need more than a neat site. Extra structure for SEO, campaigns, landing pages, content growth and further development over the longer term.
  • Online shops: more complex because of products, categories, filters, the shop flow and conversion logic. What such an engagement looks like in practice is written out at having a WordPress online shop built in Zeist.
  • Larger WordPress engagements: for websites with more layers, more content and more strategic weight, for instance with several services, audiences or local extensions.

Wondering which engagement fits your situation, or looking for a broader overview of everything we build? Then see our software and website services.

FIG.02: The layer stack per kind of engagementsheet 2/5

What each form adds on top of the previous one

The four forms are listed above, which makes them look like four separate products. They are not four: it is the same base once, with a layer on top each time. Every layer below appears literally in the list; nothing has been invented and there is no price attached.

engagement-forms/wordpressfour forms · the same base
Affordable website pages, engineering and structure
Growth website content growth and further development campaigns and landing pages extra structure for SEO pages, engineering and structure
Online shop shop flow and conversion logic filters products and categories extra structure for SEO pages, engineering and structure
Larger WordPress engagement local extensions several audiences several services campaigns and landing pages extra structure for SEO pages, engineering and structure

How to read this. The blue layer at the bottom is the same in all four and we always build it first, in stage 02 of FIG.01. The height of a stack says how much goes on top, not what it costs. The cyan layers are the only ones that change the set-up itself, because products, categories, filters and the checkout flow touch every screen; that is the same reason shop functionality makes the biggest jump in FIG.03.

DOC.06

What having a website built costs

That depends on the type of engagement. An affordable website asks for a different build-up from a growth website, an online shop or a larger WordPress engagement with several layers, services or ongoing development. So we look not only at the design but also at structure, number of pages, forms, content, landing page logic, any shop functionality and the question of how the site has to be able to grow later. Amounts are in euro and exclude tax; a business in the United Kingdom or Ireland accounts for the VAT itself under the reverse charge.

What it costs. A website runs on a monthly amount instead of a one-off build fee: 75 euro per month, and 150 euro per month if a webshop is part of it. That amount covers four things, namely building the site, hosting it, maintaining it with updates and backups, and developing it further afterwards. Nothing is invoiced up front, so you do not start with a bill before anything exists. Work that sits outside the website is charged by the hour.

You cancel by email, and that email counts as the official cancellation. You pay out the current month and then it stops. We send you the content of your site, because that is yours. The domain name is already in your name, since you bought it yourself. The site itself does not come with you. You cannot simply stop within those first two years.

If you do want to leave earlier, you buy off the remainder: you pay the remaining months in one go, and after that we send you the content just as with a normal cancellation. It works that way because we do not invoice the build up front while we keep paying for the site; those costs run on if you leave early.

The term, and how you end it. Because this is an ongoing agreement rather than a project, the term is part of the price. The first two years are fixed; after that the agreement can be cancelled monthly. You cancel by email to sales@theseo.nl. Those two years are there for a reason and not to tie you down: the build is not invoiced up front, so the work that sits right at the start of the engagement is earned back over that period. It is the same sum any sensible buyer makes when comparing quotes, namely the build plus two years of management, only here it is already in one monthly amount.

Do you only work in WordPress? Yes. For this service TheSEO always builds websites inside WordPress. That suits how we work, because WordPress gives a lot of room for content growth, SEO, landing pages, extensibility and practical administration.

If you are still choosing between building it yourself, a freelancer or an agency, first read what to look for when hiring a WordPress specialist, including the eight questions to ask every candidate.

FIG.03: The four dialssheet 3/5

Which choice makes the work grow fastest

The four items from the paragraph above, set out as sliders. The position shows the direction described in the text, not an amount and not a measurement: this is our own estimate of how much work a choice adds.

Number of pagesadds up linearly
Forms and flowstested one by one
Shop functionalitybiggest jump
Ongoing developmentcarries on after launch

Read this as direction, not as a rate. The sliders show how fast a choice makes the work grow, not how many euro it costs. An online shop is the only dial that changes the set-up itself, because products, categories, filters and the checkout flow touch every screen. A website does not run on a build fee here but on a monthly amount, and the full rate is on the rates page; what your site becomes depends on which of these four you turn up.

DOC.07

WordPress and findability under one roof

Separating a website from findability is, in our view, not a good idea. So a WordPress project is always built with search engines in mind and, more and more often, with the AI systems that crawl the web. Think of a clear page structure, fast load times and copy that matches what visitors are actually looking for.

That makes the WordPress service a logical starting point for businesses that also want to work on organic growth. Anyone who already has a website can have it examined and, where needed, rebuilt, without the existing findability being lost.

That means clear headings, a logical build-up per page and copy that answers concrete visitor questions. The same parts that help a visitor help search engines and AI systems understand what a page is about. After delivery your site still asks for attention: what you can perfectly well do yourself and what you had better hand over is set out step by step in our guide to WordPress maintenance and security.

If an online shop runs on your site, the work does not stop at the order. For shops that ship with MyParcel we built the MyParcel dashboard for several shops, where you follow the parcels of all your shops in one place. MyParcel is a Dutch carrier platform, so this is relevant if you ship from the Netherlands.

Building landing pages without ending up maintaining twenty of them

In FIG.02 landing pages are a layer on the growth website and the larger engagement. What does not fit there is the question that comes right after: what happens when there are ten or twenty of them, per service and per working area. That is a build question and not a copy question. So we do not build such a set as twenty separate pages, but as a template whose lower half exists once.

What is unique per page and what exists once

Unique per page is everything that gives that page its right to exist: the heading, the first paragraph, the evidence that belongs to that service or that town, and the photos of work done there. You write that by hand, because that is exactly the part that cannot be multiplied.

Existing once, and inserted everywhere: the form, the telephone number, the reviews block, the footer and the styling. Anyone who copies that per page has twenty edits to make when the mobile number changes, and forgets three. In a WordPress set-up that is a component you change in one place and that moves everywhere at once. It sounds like a detail during the build and it is the reason such a set still holds together two years later.

A form that tells you itself where it was filled in

If several landing pages are running, the first question on every enquiry is: where did that come from. That does not have to be a measurement system. A hidden field in the form that sends the page name along puts that origin into the email you already get. During the build that costs a few minutes. Afterwards it cannot be added for the enquiries already in, and that is why it comes as standard with us.

Speed, because this is where the heaviest photos sit

It is precisely these pages that carry the images the rest of the site does not have: work up close, often straight off a phone. Those are the largest files on the whole website. Fixing dimensions and compressing therefore belongs with the upload and not with a clean-up round a year later. What else there is to win on speed, and in what order, is in making your WordPress website faster.

And afterwards: who checks them

A landing page ages faster than the rest of the site, because it more often carries something that is only temporarily true: an offer, a lead time, an availability. Agree at delivery who checks them and how often, together with the rest of the maintenance after launch. What such a page has to say when an advert lands on it is on the landing page for Google Ads; in which order those blocks persuade is in the build-up of a page that is logical and still sells.

FIG.04: Unique per page, or shared oncesheet 4/5

Which part you write twenty times and which part you build once

The two columns are the whole decision. On the left is what makes a page unique and is therefore written by hand. On the right is what exists once and is inserted everywhere. The sets we take over have almost everything on the left, and that is the reason such a set turns out to carry three different telephone numbers.

landing page/templatea build choice · not a measurement
Unique per page Heading and first paragraph the service and the town, in the words of the query The evidence that belongs here a job from this area, not a random project Photos of work done there the only image that is not interchangeable The questions for this service a different doubt per service, so different answers
Once, inserted everywhere The form with a hidden field that sends the page name along Telephone number and availability one place to change, everywhere at once The reviews block adding a new review is one action, not twenty Styling, headings and buttons so page eleven does not look different from page one

You write the left, you build the right. The split does not decide how the pages look but how long they stay right. A set with everything on the left reads just as well at delivery as a set with a shared lower half; you only see the difference at the first change that has to land everywhere.

FIG.05: The first change after deliverysheet 5/5

Twenty pages, one new telephone number, two ways that ends

The paragraph above does the sum: anyone who copies the component per page has twenty edits to make when the mobile number changes and forgets three. On the left exactly that happens, tile by tile, and three tiles stay where they were. To the right the same component sits once in the template, so all twenty change in the same movement. This is the shape of a build choice and not a measurement of an existing site.

template/shared-componenta build choice · not a measurement
Copied twenty times solid = carries the new line · striped = still on the old one One at a time, and three are left behind. Every tile is a separate action and therefore a separate chance to skip one. The three striped tiles are the three different telephone numbers from the paragraph at FIG.04: they are still there two years later.
Shared once all twenty share the same source, so the same state All twenty at the same moment. The number sits once in the template and is inserted everywhere, so there is nothing to forget and nothing to go back over. The change is one action and the rest is styling.

Why this drawing in particular keeps running. The four drawings above set out a choice you can take in at a glance. This one is about the only moment when the choice makes itself felt, and that moment does not come at delivery but six months later. Anyone with motion switched off sees straight away where it ends up: seventeen tiles solid and three on the old line.

DOC.08

Which brands we built for

Among others we built the sites of GOMIJAS, Tempodak, The Wooden House and Harmony de Mijas. Who buys which work from us is set out per brand in the work split on the cases page: there you see at a glance whether we built the site for a brand, do the SEO, run the adverts, or more than one of those three.

We do not put loose client quotes here. A comment without a name, a role and a date is not something you can check, and then it says nothing about us. What you can check is the work split above: which brand buys which work from us, and since when it has been running.

DOC.09

Frequently asked questions

Are your websites SEO ready as standard?

Yes. That is a core part of the approach. SEO is not added after going live but forms the base layer of the build.

What do you mean by AI ready websites?

We mean that a website should not only be readable and logical for visitors and Google, but also better prepared for a search environment in which AI answers, summaries and entities matter more and more.

How quickly can a website be live?

That differs per engagement. A compact website with limited content is obviously live sooner than a larger engagement with many pages, forms, several services or shop functionality.

Do you write the copy as well?

Yes, and for many websites that is the sensible option. Copy has to read well but also play the right part within the structure of the page, the SEO, the conversion and the trust.

Do you keep developing the website after it goes live?

Yes, and that is often where it gets interesting. A website is rarely truly finished at launch. After that, new opportunities regularly appear for SEO, campaigns, extra landing pages, cases or improvements to the experience.

DOC.10

Bespoke work in the region

We build WordPress websites for owners and trade specialists right across the whole of the Netherlands. Two examples of what that bespoke approach looks like regionally are having a website made in Tilburg and having a website made in Zeist. In both cases the same method is central: a technically solid base, combined with a structure tuned to the local market.

Outside these two examples we also work for owners in a wide range of sectors, from trade specialists to service businesses, always with the same combination of engineering, structure and findability as the starting point.

DOC.10b

Per trade: what a website in your sector has to be able to do

Alongside the regional engagements above we wrote out per trade what a website in that sector really has to do, because that differs more sharply than most owners think. An emergency trade asks for a page that gets the phone ringing, a quotation trade for a form that runs over two screens. What those trades share, from the five questions a customer asks to the fields a quotation intake needs, is bundled on having a website made for tradespeople.

So website for locksmiths sets out why the number belongs above the fold and how many actions currently sit between arrival and a conversation. Website for window and door firms covers how to answer the planning permission question before anyone asks for a price, and which form fields cost you enquiries. Website for removal firms starts everything at the date rather than at a contact form. These guides are written for the Dutch market and are in Dutch; the planning permission and licensing rules in them are Dutch rules and do not carry over to the United Kingdom or Ireland.

For two trades it comes down to what you dare to show. Website for solar panel firms puts the arithmetic above the offer, now that the Dutch net metering scheme ends on 1 January 2027. That end date is published by the Dutch government and was last checked there on 25 August 2026. It is a Dutch scheme: there is no British or Irish equivalent behind that page, and we have not written up the local schemes for those markets, so we make no claim about them. And website for pest control is about the IPM certificate and the reporting a commercial client wants to see before awarding the work; that certificate is the Dutch arrangement.

Straight into a conversation about a WordPress website

We are reachable 24 hours a day at sales@theseo.nl or by telephone on +31 6 29 91 97 56. As a matter of principle we do not work for direct competitors of existing clients, so the interests of clients never collide.

If you want to know what a new or renewed WordPress website could do for you, the best step is to book a call. In it we look at the current situation and at what a bespoke WordPress site could return for that particular organisation.

As a matter of principle we do not work for several parties who are each other's direct competitors. That way the attention for every client stays fully on their own growth, without a conflict of interest inside the same market. If we work together, we process personal data on behalf of your company and we sign the data processing agreement beforehand, which sets out what we may do with that data. Dutch law applies to the engagement.
