A name is not an identity check
The plugin matches user agents against 34 built-in names and up to 25 custom names. It has no reverse-DNS or IP-range verification. Google-Extended and Applebot-Extended are robots groups only, not request names to expect in the log.
Turn requests into an overview
The log records crawler name, page address, status code and time. View 7, 30 or 90 days or all data; CSV export is capped at 20,000 rows. A cache or CDN may answer before PHP runs, so an empty WordPress log does not prove no crawler came by.
Preference and blocking differ
Search, AI input and training each allow yes, no or no stated preference. The robots block and Disallow start switched off. A content signal is not an enforced technical block; a physical robots.txt file can bypass WordPress output.
No IP address in the log table
The source describes a log without the full user agent, query string, cookie or visitor ID. Rate limiting does briefly process the visitor address as a key fingerprint, for at most a minute. Default log retention is 90 days. These storage details are not a blanket privacy exemption.
Logging starts; robots waits
Version 1.0.0, 52 KB, requires WordPress 6.0+, PHP 7.4+ and administrator permission. Logging starts on activation; robots.txt changes only after your settings and confirmation. Deactivation keeps the log; uninstalling removes it.
