Website for pest control companies: show what's in the report

Two kinds of visitor land on your site who have nothing in common: the homeowner with a wasps' nest above the front door, and the business manager thinking about an inspection. The first wants to call, the second wants to see your paperwork. We build a WordPress site with two entry points, with the IPM certificate above the fold and the reporting explained rather than just announced.

FIG.01 · The logbook: what you record and who asks to see it

Four phases in the file, and who looks at each one

This is the structure of a treatment file, not data from a real location. The right-hand column is the point: every line you record has a different reader, and that's why a logbook is more than a legal obligation.

STATUSin progress
  • 01 reportWhat was seen, where and whenSpecies, location and time. This is the line the customer is present for, so you can fill it in straight away.the customer reads back here what they reported
  • 02 inspectionExclusion, signs and causeWhere it's getting in, what's attracting it, which structural defects are still open. This is the core of IPM: exclusion and monitoring first.the client sees which repair is down to them
  • 03 treatmentProduct, location and reasoningWhat was applied, exactly where, and why the non-chemical route wasn't enough. Under IPM, chemicals are the last step, not the first.an inspector checks this line first
  • 04 aftercareCheck, result and next stepWhat the follow-up check found and whether the file can be closed. Without this line, there's no demonstrable result.this is where your aftercare agreement hangs

How to read this. This isn't software but the structure that should be explained on your website, so a business owner can see before the job what they'll actually get. For a restaurant, bakery, warehouse or healthcare facility, that file is the reason to choose you: at an inspection, a demonstrable approach is the difference between a remark and a real problem. So put what's in the report on your site, not just that you report.

01 · THE BRIEF
FIG.02: The sorting belt: seven search phrases, two binssheet 2/2

Seven ways this work gets searched for, sorted into two bins

These phrases are the form in which people search for this work, not a measurement of search volume. What matters is the sorting: the homeowner with an animal in the house and the manager with a contract search on different words, so they shouldn't land on the same page. The phrase at the bottom falls into both bins.

mice in the meter cupboard what now pest management contract hospitality wasps' nest removal today ipm certified company near me rat seen in the garden rodent control logbook required how much does pest control cost
Bin one: it needs solving now homeowner · today
what falls in itPhrases with an animal and a place in them, and phrases with today, urgent or now.
where they should landA page per species, with what you can do yourself tonight and the number at the top.
what drives them awayA ten-field quote form and a paragraph about annual contracts.
Bin two: it needs to be demonstrably in order business · this quarter
what falls in itPhrases with contract, certificate, logbook, audit or an industry sector in them.
where they should landA page per industry sector, with the certificate above the fold and a page from the logbook visible.
what drives them awayAn emergency number in red letters and not a word about reporting or aftercare.

How to read this. These phrases are the form in which people search for this work, not a measurement of search volume: how many of each type come in differs by region and by season, and you read that in your own Search Console. What matters is that there are two bins, and that almost every pest control site only has one.

The yellow phrase belongs in both and therefore gets its own answer: the homeowner wants a call-out fee and a rough figure per treatment, the business manager wants to know what an annual contract depends on. A page that puts a figure there without saying who it's for loses them both. Sorting here means: two entry points on the homepage, its own page per species and its own page per industry sector, and two forms asking different things. What belongs above the fold on the business bin is covered in chapter 02, and what you show from the logbook is in FIG.01 above.

02 · THE CERTIFICATE

The IPM certificate is your strongest argument, and it's nowhere to be found

In the Netherlands, since 1 January 2023, rodenticides against rodents indoors and outdoors may only be used as a last resort, by certified companies and professionals trained for it. Integrated Pest Management means you start with monitoring, exclusion and non-chemical methods, with chemicals as the last step. The scheme is run by the Dutch pest management quality mark, Keurmerk Plaagdier Management Bedrijven. Source: Ctgb on controlling rodents, checked on 24 August 2026.

The public register for that quality mark counted 266 participating companies when checked on 18 August 2026, spread across the rodent, pest, timber protection and European CEPA certification modules. That's a small supply against demand that partly comes from a legal duty: Regulation (EC) No 852/2004, Annex II, Chapter IX, point 4 requires food businesses to put in place adequate procedures to control pests. Checked on 24 August 2026. And yet almost no pest control company's website says what the certificate actually covers or what it's worth to the client.

The site we build does say that, in plain language and on the homepage: which certificate you hold, what it means for the way you work, and where it can be checked. Not as a logo in the footer but as a paragraph above the fold. The same argument works in advertising; how that plays out is explained at Google Ads for pest control companies NL.

03 · REPORTING

Show what's in the report, not just that you report

Business clients in this trade choose based on the file. Whoever gives the job wants to know what they'll be able to show later: a line per visit with the date, the technician, what was found, what was applied and why, and what the follow-up check turned up. That's exactly the structure from the logbook above.

The mistake almost every site makes is saying we report thoroughly

That says nothing, because everyone says it. What does work is showing the content of the report: which fields it contains, how often it's updated and when a file can be closed. For a business manager thinking about an inspection, that's the entire sales conversation.

In practice, we build a page for this that explains the structure, plus an example page with anonymised entries

If you run a portal where clients can view their own file, a login button gets added to the header, as with other products on this site. If you don't run one, we don't put anything there; a button that leads nowhere costs you more trust than it earns.

04 · GUARANTEE

What you can and can't promise about aftercare and guarantees

Guarantee is a sensitive word in this trade. You can't promise that a mouse will never get in again, because part of the cause lies with the building and with how people use it. What you can promise is an approach: how many checks come with a treatment, how quickly you come back if it persists, and what happens if the cause turns out to be structural.

Put those three things on the site in so many words, with the conditions alongside them

An aftercare agreement you actually deliver on is stronger than the word guarantee without substance, and it holds up when something goes wrong. If you sell prevention contracts, spell out what's included and what isn't, and what the difference is with a one-off treatment; that avoids arguments and raises the number of contracts that actually get renewed.

Finally, avoid images that scare people without adding any information

They backfire with the business visitor, and for the homeowner they replace the answer to the question that actually matters: are you coming today, and what does it cost. How you answer those same two questions organically is in the guide local SEO for pest control companies NL.

05 · PRICE AND PROCESS

What a pest control website costs, and how we build it

We start with an intake, put together a draft design, and then map the pages out together in a flowchart. The figure follows from that flowchart: every page is work, and the number of pages is the basis for the quote. In this trade, the weight sits in the two entry points, the page about reporting, and the pages per species that catch the residential demand.

Those pages per species aren't filler

Someone with a wasps' nest doesn't search for pest control but for wasps' nest removal, and that page needs to give its own answer, including what you don't do and when you refer someone on. That cuts down on phone calls that go nowhere anyway.

After launch there's still work to do, because the season shifts and business demand runs all year round

What maintenance covers is on WordPress maintenance and security NL, and how an emergency trade structures its homepage is shown at website for locksmiths.

06 · QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions about a website for pest control companies

Why two entry points on the site?

Because the homeowner and the business client have nothing in common. The homeowner has a wasps' nest today and wants to call; the business manager is thinking about an inspection and wants to know what they'll be able to show for it. An emergency route where calling is the only button, and a business route that explains the approach and the file, serve both better than a homepage that tries to sit in the middle.

What should my site say about the IPM certificate?

Which certificate you hold, what it means for the way you work and where it can be checked, in plain language and above the fold. In the Netherlands, since 1 January 2023, rodenticides against rodents indoors and outdoors may only be used as a last resort, by certified companies and professionals trained for it; the scheme is run by the Dutch pest management quality mark, Keurmerk Plaagdier Management Bedrijven. Source: Ctgb on controlling rodents, checked on 24 August 2026. When checked on 18 August 2026, that quality mark's public register counted 266 participants, so within the Netherlands it's a genuine point of difference.

How do I show reporting without displaying customer data?

By showing the structure instead of a real file: which fields it contains, how often it's updated and when a file can be closed, with an example page of anonymised entries. We report thoroughly says nothing, because everyone says it. For a business client, the content of the report is the entire sales conversation.

Can I promise a guarantee?

Not in the form of never again pests, because part of the cause lies with the building and with how it's used. What you can put on record is the approach: how many checks come with a treatment, how quickly you come back if it persists, and what happens if the cause turns out to be structural. Those three sentences are stronger than the word guarantee and hold up when something goes wrong.

07 · Next step
