The AI Persuasiveness Analyst skill for Claude

Paste a landing page, sales email or pitch into Claude for an editorial persuasion review. It uses a declared 15-criterion rubric, quotes observed features verbatim and explains absent elements against the reviewed scope. It proposes three to five sentence rewrites when the source supplies enough distinct sentences. The references are Cialdini, the Heath brothers and Kahneman; the combined score is not a validated predictor of response or conversion. Missing evidence remains an open question, not an invitation to invent proof.

Text in, report out

reg. P.001

This is a shortened fictional worked example from SKILL.md, not a measured client result. The file supplies the complete source email so the quotes can be checked. The example uses an explicit editorial rubric: 4.5 points across 15 equally weighted criteria, giving 30/100. The score describes these judgements, not a predicted response or conversion rate.

What the AI Persuasiveness Analyst is

The AI Persuasiveness Analyst is a free skill from our library of 100 skills. A skill is an instruction file, SKILL.md, that gives an AI assistant a fixed way of working for one task; what that format actually is you can read in what are Claude skills NL. This one is compact, 1,545 words of instruction, and does exactly one thing: it takes commercial copy apart psychologically. Not on gut feeling, the file says itself, but with three established reference frameworks: Cialdini, Heath and Kahneman. The output is a report with a score, concrete weaknesses and rewritten sentences to test with the reader. The combined rubric is not a validated predictor of response or conversion.

You recognise the problem the skill solves by the question you ask yourself after hitting send: why is nobody replying? The text was neat, the spelling was correct, the offer was good. But neat is not persuasive. Possible gaps to inspect alongside language, offer and context include: there is no proof in it that others already trust you, there is no reason to reply now rather than next month, and the core message is buried in paragraph three. Those are not style errors, they are missing principles, and you can only find them by looking systematically.

That systematic approach is the core of the file. It runs through Cialdini's seven principles, the six pillars of Made to Stick and Kahneman's layers of thinking, and ticks off per principle whether it is demonstrably in the text. Demonstrably means here, literally: with a direct quote from your text as proof, or a short explanation of why it is missing. By its own description it works for landing pages, cold emails, sales emails and nurture flows, adverts on Meta, Google and LinkedIn, pitches and one pagers, whitepaper introductions, social posts with a commercial goal, and quotes.

It belongs in the skill library that we make freely available from the AI and automation service, with no account and no sales email afterwards. For marketers, copywriters and business owners who do not want to guess why a text does or does not work.

Why tidy copy doesn't persuade

The fictional email is polite and foregrounds credentials. Its 30/100 score comes from the declared editorial rubric, not from measured reader behaviour. The ratings below can be disputed and checked against the complete source; politeness alone does not establish persuasion.

There is proof, but of the wrong kind. The email leans entirely on authority: ten years of experience, ISO certified. That is one of the seven principles, and it is the principle that is about you. Social proof, the principle that is about people like the reader, is completely missing. Relevant evidence about similar customers may help, but the text alone does not establish how this audience will respond.

Nothing sticks. Held up against the six pillars of Made to Stick, the email falls flat: the core message only appears in paragraph three, the opening is predictable, the promise of more results is not concrete, and there is no emotion and no story in it. The Heath brothers keep asking the same question: does this stick or not. For this email, missing features are editorial observations; recall has not been measured.

There is no reason to reply now. The Kahneman layer looks at what the text does to fast, intuitive thinking. Here: not much. No anchor value that colours the rest of the numbers, no loss framing. The email proposes a growth benefit but no explicit loss frame. Prospect Theory concerns choices under risk; it does not show that loss-framed copy universally converts better. A relevant, truthful benefit can be appropriate without manufactured urgency.

The revised example does not invent competitors or growth percentages. It asks a reader-centred question using only the supplied text. The full download includes three rewrites, with any unverified certification detail marked as an unfinished field rather than publication-ready proof.

What is actually inside the SKILL.md

A skill is only as good as its instructions, so we just describe them here. The file opens with a frontmatter stating when Claude should pick the skill up: for requests like make this text stronger, why is this not working, check my landing page copy, is this persuasive, analyse my mailing, my copy is not working, what psychology is in this, or more conversions from this text. And also every time copy, an advert, a sales email, a landing page or a pitch is put in front of it. Whoever says something like that to Claude while the skill is loaded gets it automatically.

After that comes the process, seven steps in fixed order. Read the text in full. Classify the goal: inform, sell, recruit or persuade a decision. Determine the audience and the use case if they are supplied, and ask if they are not. Run through the three frameworks in order: Cialdini, Heath, Kahneman. Apply the stated 15-criterion rubric, show ratings and weights, and normalise to 100. Write the rewrites with the weakest part first. And close with a final conclusion in two sentences.

Observed features require verbatim quotations; absent elements require a scope-based explanation, not an invented quote. Do not fabricate customer relationships, results, certifications or urgency in a rewrite. The seven analysis rules also limit style advice, refer back to the sources, require a proposed rewrite, use British English unless the source text is Dutch, and spell AI in capitals.

The file closes with a worked example of a full analysis, the report you saw shortened in FIG.01, and a source list of four titles: Cialdini, the Heath brothers, Kahneman, and the original Prospect Theory paper by Tversky and Kahneman. If you want to learn to build an instruction file like this yourself, the full method is in writing SKILL.md NL.

Three frameworks, one score

reg. P.003

The score uses a declared 15-criterion editorial rubric, with relevance weights set before scoring. Ratings are 0, 0.5 or 1; weights are normally 1, 2 for an explained priority or 0 for a genuinely inapplicable criterion. The example uses all weights at 1: Cialdini 2.5 plus Heath 2.0 plus anchor/loss checks 0.0 gives 4.5 / 15 x 100 = 30. This is not an empirical persuasion scale.

The theory the skill rests on

Four sources are named, and the rule in the file is that the analysis refers back to those sources whenever there is doubt. That is deliberate: it lets you read them yourself and decide whether you agree.

The influence comes from Robert Cialdini. The expanded 2021 edition of Influence is used, with seven principles: reciprocity, consistency, social proof, liking, authority, scarcity and unity. Each principle identifies a possible influence to examine, and the check is simple: is that route demonstrably in your text or not. Note what the skill does not do: it does not teach you to apply the principles in a conversation or campaign, it tests whether they are in a text.

The stickiness comes from Chip and Dan Heath. Made to Stick from 2007 answers a different question than Cialdini: not why people say yes, but why some messages stick and others evaporate. The six pillars, from Simple to Stories, form the second block of every report.

The thinking comes from Daniel Kahneman. Thinking, Fast and Slow from 2011 describes the two layers in which people think: the fast, intuitive System 1 and the slow, rational System 2. Deliberate reading can require effort, but effort is not universally harmful to conversion and the text does not reveal a reader’s actual cognitive process. That is why it checks for the shortcuts that do speak to System 1: anchoring, framing, availability and familiar words.

The loss framing comes from Tversky and Kahneman together. Prospect Theory from 1979 models gains and losses relative to a reference point in decisions under risk. It does not validate a universal advertising effect. Inspect truthful, relevant loss framing without treating its absence as an automatic defect or inventing urgency.

If you want to work on the structure of the argument after the analysis, you can continue with two neighbours from the library: the Pyramid Principle Writer skill for the order of the argument, and the SCQA Communication Coach skill for the tension arc of your opening. This analyst tells you what is missing; those two help you fill the gap.

What the skill refuses

reg. P.004

The SKILL.md contains seven rules for the analysis, and they matter at least as much as the frameworks themselves. An analysis that just tells you what you want to hear is worthless, and an analysis without proof is an opinion. In conversation the rules play out like this: every rule below is a request you could make, with the response the skill gives according to its own instructions.

FIG.04: analysis-rules.log[####-] sheet 4/5
analysis-rules.log7 fixed rules from the SKILL.md
just say it is strong, it has to go out the door todayREFUSEDNever invent principles that are not there. If social proof is missing, the skill simply says so. A flattering score supplies no evidence of a conversion outcome.

Installing it in Claude Code, Claude.ai or Codex

The zip contains one folder, persuasive-power-analyst, with the SKILL.md inside it. Installing is a matter of putting the file in the right place, and that place differs per environment. SKILL.md has been an open standard since December 2025, so the same skill also works in Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI. So you are not downloading a Claude file but a working instruction that any modern AI assistant can read. The extended guide per environment is in installing Claude skills NL.

CLAUDE CODE
  1. Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ (or .claude/skills/ in your project).
  2. Claude then recognises the skill by itself as soon as you paste a text and ask whether it persuades.
  3. Start Claude Code with claude, then enter /persuasive-power-analyst inside the session.
CLAUDE.AI
  1. Go to Customize and then Skills.
  2. Upload the zip there as a skill.
  3. Or paste the contents of SKILL.md into the project instructions of a Project.
CODEX
  1. Open AGENTS.md in your repository.
  2. Paste the contents of SKILL.md into it, or keep SKILL.md as a separate file next to it and point to it from AGENTS.md.
  3. Codex reads that along at every session.

After that, using it is simple: paste the text and ask why it does or does not work. Add the goal and the audience if you know them, because the weighting of the score depends on it; if they are missing, the skill asks for them. If you are new to files like this, the knowledge base has the wider explanation of working with AI.

$ cat 06-wanneer-wel-en-niet.md
DOC.06

When to use it and when not to

It is at its strongest on texts that ask something of the reader: a click, a reply, a signature. The list from the file itself: landing pages, cold emails, sales emails and nurture flows, adverts on Meta, Google and LinkedIn, pitches and one pagers, whitepaper introductions and social posts with a commercial goal. Quotes can go through it too, and the file gives the advice right there: combine it with the AI Quote Writer skill, which builds the structure of the document while this analyst tests the psychological charge.

There are also limits. You will not get style advice here: spelling, rhythm and tone are editing work, and that is not what you come to a psychological analyst for. It does not predict conversion: the score summarises explicit editorial evidence ratings and relevance weights, not how many people will click tomorrow, because that also depends on your offer, your price and your audience. And it does not turn a bad offer into a good one. If nobody wants your service, that is not down to a lack of loss framing.

The most honest limit sits in how you use the outcome. What gets exposed here are persuasion levers, and you can pull those the wrong way too: inventing scarcity that is not there, claiming proof you do not have. Do not do that, and the skill will not help you with it: it points out where a principle is missing, but the real proof has to come from your own records. The texts before and after in the chain have their own skills: the SPIN Sales Conversation NL for the conversation where you gather the arguments, and the Negotiator for the conversation that follows your persuasive proposal.

DOC.07 · FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does the AI Persuasiveness Analyst skill cost?

Nothing. The skill is free, falls under the MIT licence and you do not need to create an account or leave an email address. You download a 4.5 KB zip containing a folder and a single file, SKILL.md, and that is the complete skill. There is no paid version and no sales email follows afterwards.

Does this skill also work in Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI?

Yes. SKILL.md has been an open standard since December 2025, so the same file also works in Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other tools that follow the standard. In Codex you unzip it into .agents/skills/ in your project, or into ~/.agents/skills/ for all your projects; Codex has supported SKILL.md directly since the open standard of December 2025. Putting the contents of SKILL.md into your AGENTS.md still works too. The instructions are just readable text, so any AI assistant that accepts instruction files can work with it.

How is the persuasiveness score calculated?

This skill uses an explicit editorial rubric, not a validated conversion measure. It scores seven Cialdini principles, six Heath pillars, an explicit reference anchor and an explicit loss frame. Evidence ratings are 0, 0.5 or 1. Explain relevance weights before scoring: normally 1, 2 for a priority, or 0 for a genuinely inapplicable criterion. Score = 100 x weighted ratings / total applicable weight. Unknown evidence withholds the overall score. Below 50, 50 to below 70, 70 through 85 and above 85 are editorial bands only. The worked example is 4.5 / 15 x 100 = 30, not a performance prediction.

Does the skill also give style advice, such as shorter sentences?

No, and that is a deliberate rule in the file: no style tips such as shorter sentences or an active voice, unless they directly touch a psychological principle. The skill looks purely at psychological effect. For spelling, rhythm and tone you need other tools; this skill answers only one question, namely why the reader does or does not act.

Does the skill also work for English texts?

Yes. This English download instructs the assistant to use British English unless the original text is Dutch. The framework checks and evidence rules remain the same; the page and download use the same language instruction.

Does the skill invent principles that are not there?

The instructions forbid inventing principles or proof. Quote an observed feature verbatim; for an absent element, identify the reviewed scope and explain what was not found. Do not invent a quote to demonstrate absence. Rewrites must not fabricate clients, competitor relationships, results, certifications or deadlines. These are instruction rules, not a claim that model compliance has been independently measured.

Do I also get a rewrite if my text already scores well?

Yes. The skill asks for proposed rewrites even when the editorial score is high. Use three to five distinct source sentences when available, or explain a smaller set if the source is shorter. Each rewrite identifies its intended principle and why it may help; effectiveness remains a hypothesis to test, not a guaranteed improvement.
