Google Ads for heat pump installers Nijmegen: the customer searches first for something other than what you sell
Nijmegen has 87,822 homes, and almost one in five of them predates 1945. In homes like these, the heat pump is almost never the first step; insulation is. Most installers find that annoying and ignore it. The smarter move is to reverse it: bid on the question the customer actually starts with, then be the obvious choice for the step after.
Your product sits at step three, the search demand starts at step one
Four steps, each one showing whether it comes with a subsidy and with search demand. A campaign that only bids at step three talks to people who have not done step one yet. Sources are in the footnote.
Why bidding on the insulation question pays off here
Becoming more sustainable is a chain, and the customer works through it in order. In a 1930s home with single glazing and an uninsulated cavity wall, a heat pump is an expensive disappointment; every installer knows that, and so, vaguely, does the customer. The result is that they search first for insulation, cavity wall, glazing and subsidy, and only months later for heat pump.
Almost every installer only bids on that last search term
That is the most expensive auction with the most comparison-minded visitor. The cheaper, smarter entry point is an ad group that answers the step-one question: what is the right order, what does insulation deliver, what is covered by the subsidy. You do not need to become an insulation company to do that. You only need to be the party that explains it honestly, and is then in view when the next step comes around.
The facts you can put on a page like that are concrete and verifiable
RVO subsidises five insulation measures for homeowners, with requirements on the insulated surface area and on the material's insulation value. From 1 April 2026, UF foam is no longer covered. And new in 2026: 400 euros for energy-efficient ventilation, provided it is combined with an insulation measure and applied for within 24 months. Put that information on your page with the date it was last updated, and refer to RVO for the current situation.
Source for the UF foam rule: RVO, on ending the subsidy for UF foam
RVO states there that from 1 April 2026 you no longer get subsidy for urea-formaldehyde foam, and that this applies to foam applied on or after that date. Last checked on 25 August 2026: the page is still there and the date has not moved.
What 47 percent flats means for your adverts
Nijmegen is a stacked city: 47 percent of the housing stock is a flat and only three percent is detached (CBS StatLine table 82550NED, reference date 1 January 2025, and CBS Key Figures for Districts and Neighbourhoods 2024, both retrieved 25 August 2026). For your campaign, that has two consequences you can build into the copy.
- Placement is a question, not a detail. Where does the outdoor unit go, what does the owners' association say, how much noise does the unit make and what does that mean for the neighbours. A page that addresses that calmly, with real photos of previous installations on a facade or a balcony, answers the question the customer does not dare ask.
- The decision maker is sometimes a group. With an owners' association it takes longer and more rides on the first impression. That calls for its own advert copy and, above all, its own expectation: here you measure success in advice calls, not in quotes this month.
For ordinary single-family homes in the post-war neighbourhoods, the opposite applies: there, placement is rarely the problem and the conversation is about capacity, noise and payback time. That difference is big enough for two ad groups with their own keywords; which keyword types fit is in our explanation of keyword types.
Service area: Nijmegen and the surrounding region
From Nijmegen, a logical service area covers Beuningen, Wijchen, Malden, Groesbeek, Elst and Bemmel. Within that radius, aftercare can be done the same day, and for heat pumps that matters more than for most other installations.
The organic route is set out in full in the guide on local SEO for installation companies NL, including how to make certifications visible and use subsidy explanations as a content engine.
Frequently asked questions about advertising as an installer in Nijmegen
Why would I advertise on insulation as a heat pump installer?
Because that is where your customer starts, and because you are already at the table when the heat pump question comes up. In Nijmegen, 19 percent of the 87,822 homes predate 1945 (CBS StatLine table 82550NED, reference date 1 January 2025, retrieved 25 August 2026); in a home like that, a heat pump without insulation is rarely a good plan. Bidding on the insulation question gets you a conversation with exactly the household that becomes your most expensive job in a year or two.
Do I then need to start offering insulation myself?
Not necessarily. You can answer the question without doing the job: explain the order, name what is covered by the ISDE, and work with an insulation company you trust. For your findability, what counts is that you give the answer, not that you hold the spade. Whoever gives the customer an honest order almost automatically gets the second job.
What does the ISDE cover in 2026 besides the heat pump?
RVO subsidises five types of insulation measures for homeowners, including cavity wall, facade and glazing, with requirements on surface area and on insulation value. New in 2026 is that you can also get 400 euros for energy-efficient ventilation if you combine it with an insulation measure, to be applied for within 24 months of the insulation work. From 1 April 2026, UF foam is no longer covered. State those rules on your page with a date next to them and refer to RVO for the current situation.
Is Nijmegen available as a service area?
Yes. In this trade, no region has been claimed yet, and Gelderland is completely new ground for us. We work with one installation company per region at a time, so whoever comes first closes the door behind them.
