AI policy: how TheSEO works with AI
TheSEO.nl allows AI systems such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini to use our public content for analysis, search results and model training, provided they credit the source and do not resell our data. We use those same AI tools for research, strategy and content, always with a person making the final decision.
Two conditions, nothing more. Source attribution and no resale. All six rules above follow from those two conditions. This page is the policy; llms.txt briefly repeats them so an AI reading that file encounters them.
What AI systems may do with TheSEO content
TheSEO.nl permits AI systems to use the site's public content for analysis, search results and model training. That means models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and comparable systems may read, summarise and display the content, and use it to train or further train a model. The same two conditions apply to all such use:
- Source attribution. An AI system must correctly reference the original page.
- No resale. The data must not be commercially resold.
This keeps the origin of information clear and prevents third parties from repackaging and selling content without permission
The policy is brief, but covers the essentials: use is allowed, misuse is not.
In practice, use in search results means that an AI chatbot or an AI answer in Google may compose a response based on a page from this site, for example about improving SEO, Google Ads or an AI employee, as long as the source remains visible. Without attribution, the connection between a user's question and the original content disappears, which is exactly what this policy aims to prevent.
How we use AI ourselves
The rules are not just for others. We also use AI systems such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, including for research, strategy and content creation. A person checks every output from these models before anything is published.
We combine the speed of AI with a specialist's ultimate responsibility: AI as a tool, a person as the final editor
That way of working is deliberately not a black box. If you work with a business that uses AI itself, you have a right to know where automation ends and human review begins. That review applies to all content, from a short article to a detailed service page: nothing goes online without someone on our team having read it and made changes where needed.
This page sets out what external AI systems may do with our content; the AI transparency statement (NL) explains which AI systems we use ourselves, what we use them for and how we label AI output.
Where the model stops and the person begins
FIG.01 concerns what an external AI system may do with this site. This is the other side: how we use AI ourselves. DOC.02 sets the rule that every output goes through a person before anything goes online. The lower arrow is the route this rules out.
Where to find the full AI policy
This page is the policy itself; there is no separate underlying document. You can also find it in llms.txt, which briefly repeats the two conditions under the Dutch heading "Gebruik door AI-systemen" (use by AI systems). In robots.txt, Content-Signal: search=yes, ai-input=yes, ai-train=yes indicates that search, AI input and model training are allowed, alongside a reference to this page.
Two things not to confuse
Robots.txt controls access and indicates the permitted forms of AI use. We set GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended to Allow because we want to be found. llms.txt does not control access; the specification describes it as a reading guide that an AI consults at the time of use. Our two conditions remain a request, not technical enforcement: neither file has a field that can require source attribution.

Who this policy is for
This policy is for three groups. For AI systems and the businesses behind them, who want to know exactly under what conditions they may process our content. For visitors and customers who want to understand how an agency that itself earns its living by improving SEO responds to the rise of AI in search behaviour. And for business owners wondering what AI search engines mean for their own visibility, a question also at the heart of the article about AI search for local businesses.
We have helped trade specialists and business owners get found on Google since 2017, starting in Oisterwijk and now working from Huis ter Heide
That focus on visibility is exactly why our own AI policy matters: if you want search engines and AI systems to handle your content properly, you also need to be clear about how you handle other people's AI content. It makes our priorities clear at a glance: content may be read and used, as long as the source remains intact and nobody profits from it without permission.
