What you need to know
Which jobs do you want, and can you handle the enquiries?
Google Ads can promote a defined service when budget and follow-up are ready. SEO can improve your service information and organic visibility. A broken enquiry journey or a full schedule needs attention before you try to attract more visitors.
01
Capacity for specific work: investigate a bounded campaign with a suitable landing page.
02
Preparing future replacements: improve service pages, project information and business details.
03
Missed calls or confusing forms: repair the route to contact first.
04
Combining channels: assign each a purpose and assess suitable enquiries separately.
Start with a problem you can identify. Choosing a channel does not guarantee work.
An example of our work
Work in practice
A real roofing business. Tempodak.
Completed website for a roofing business
The Tempodak image shows website work that was delivered. It does not establish channel returns, enquiry volume or the outcome for another roofing business.
List the work you want: leak repairs, maintenance, gutters, insulation or roof replacement. For each service, record when your crew has capacity and which area remains practical. A small repair needs a different schedule from replacement work involving materials and several working days.
Include work already expected from existing customers and open quotations. If inspections fill the diary while the installation team is fully booked, selection and planning may need attention first. New enquiries are useful when someone can assess them and take the next step.
02
Give SEO a specific job
An owner planning roof replacement wants to understand your service, the assessment process and relevant previous work. Improve the pages that answer those questions, supported by your own projects and clear business information. Preserve existing pages that receive search traffic while making them more useful.
Google separates advertising from organic search: ad spend does not buy an organic position. Agree which pages and questions you will improve and how progress will be assessed. A guaranteed ranking or a promised date for search results is not a useful commitment.
03
Keep a campaign within the work you can handle
A focused campaign can fit when you have a defined service, realistic coverage, a landing page and someone responsible for incoming contacts. Decide which searches do not belong, such as job vacancies or DIY questions, then check the actual search terms that bring visitors.
Google Ads lets you limit eligibility to selected days and hours. For a campaign intended to generate calls, compare that schedule with actual telephone cover. Ad scheduling does not make a crew available, so the message must reflect the service you can provide.
04
Check what happens after the click
Follow the journey on your phone from an ad or search result to contact. Can someone with a leak find the number? Can an owner planning replacement explain the roof type, location and job? Is it clear whether they are sending an enquiry or confirming an appointment?
If both visitors end up struggling with a general contact page, improve that journey first. Use your own work photographs and clear service information. You do not need a new feature to correct an unclear promise or move an existing contact button.
05
Judge each channel by suitable work
Record the work requested and whether your business can take it on. Separate a telephone-link click, an actual conversation, an inspection, a quotation and a won job. Google describes conversion measurement as tracking chosen actions; those actions need a clear meaning in your operation.
Use the same definitions for a channel comparison. A large form total says little when the requests fall outside your services or area. Mark the source as unknown when evidence is missing. Do not automatically credit an eventual job entirely to the last channel you can see.
06
Compare costs and timing using your own records
Include media and management costs for Ads. Include content, technical work and management for SEO. Keep the time spent calling, inspecting and quoting visible separately, so a channel with unsuitable enquiries does not appear cheaper than it is.
Compare enquiries received during the same period and allow open quotations time to reach a decision. Recorded channel costs divided by suitable enquiries from that group can help. If there are none yet, that figure cannot be calculated. A market average cannot fill a gap in your own records.
07
Choose the improvement you will make now
With spare capacity and a usable website, investigate a limited Ads trial. With a healthy workload but little explanation of replacement work, improve SEO and project content. With plenty of contacts but few suitable quotations, examine what happens after the enquiry.
A combination can make sense when the tasks are clear: advertising for a defined service and organic content for more considered decisions, for example. Agree when to review, which evidence is needed and what would justify changing the approach.
08
Bring your schedule and recent enquiry patterns
In an initial conversation, we look at services, coverage, available people, current pages and measurement. A summary without customer names or other personal details is enough. We identify the main obstacle and a useful first improvement before agreeing any work.
We discuss availability of our help by service and area, including Utrecht and its surroundings. Naming a location confirms neither availability nor a start date. The conversation route does not open an order.
FAQ
Good to know.
Should a small budget always go to SEO?+
No. SEO also needs time and delivery. Identify the problem, what you can afford and which evidence supports the choice. Improving an existing enquiry journey may come before adding a channel.
Can I pause SEO when the schedule is full?+
You can review the amount of new work. Keep service information, availability and existing pages accurate. A full schedule is not a reason to remove pages that already work.
Will Google Ads improve my organic ranking?+
Google states that advertising does not affect your site’s organic search presence. Assess paid and organic results separately.
What if we do not know where enquiries come from?+
Start recording source and outcome consistently. Keep unknown information marked as unknown. Do not increase spend on the strength of returns you cannot yet substantiate.
